Pixelate

Depixelate Image

This tool softens pixelation, upscales the result and sharpens the edges — a real, deterministic fix you can run in your browser, not an AI redraw that invents details.

It is honest about its limits: heavy pixelation cannot be perfectly undone. What you get is a cleaner, larger, sharper version of what is actually in the image.

Upscale

Runs entirely in your browser — no uploads, no cloud AI.

Drop an image, paste it, or click to browse

Your image is processed entirely in this browser. Nothing is ever uploaded.

How It Works

1. Upload the pixelated image — a screenshot, an old web graphic, a low-resolution export.

2. Pick an upscale factor (1×, 2× or 3×), then tune sharpen and smoothing until the blockiness fades.

3. Download the PNG. Compare against the original any time with the toggle.

What Depixelation Can and Cannot Do

Depixelation smooths the stair-step edges and softens the block grid. It works best on mild pixelation — a slightly blurry logo, a low-res avatar, a compressed screenshot.

It cannot restore detail that is not there. If a face is four pixels wide, no tool can make it a portrait. For that, you would need AI restoration — which is exactly why this tool tells you what it does instead of pretending.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I depixelate an image for free?

Upload it here, pick an upscale factor and sharpen amount, and download the PNG. The whole pipeline runs in your browser and is free.

Is this the same as AI upscaling?

No. AI upscalers redraw the image and can invent details. This tool smooths, enlarges and sharpens the pixels that are actually there — deterministic and faithful.

Can depixelation fix a heavily pixelated photo?

Partially. It removes the blocky edges and improves the look, but detail lost to pixelation cannot be recovered by any honest tool.

Which formats can I depixelate?

PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, AVIF and BMP. The export is a PNG.

Does my image get uploaded?

No — processing happens entirely in your browser, same as every Pixelate tool.
